Recently
I have been volunteering at the Blue Cross Animal Charity shop in Abergavenny. I wanted to do
something either for Animal Welfare or Cancer. I handed in a CV and had a call
from the Blue Cross on
Wednesday so I popped in to confirm my interest. I started the next day and I thoroughly
enjoyed meeting new people. I only do 9am till 1pm on different days, basically
when I can and when I am needed. So far I have sorted the clothes out. I have
to say that people are extremely generous in the Abergavenny area and you
should really pop in to see what we have on offer. I have sorted plenty of name
brands out such as Gap, Next and even shoes by Faith and Kit. All still with
the labels on as well! You can get great bargains in the Blue Cross and it all
goes to a worthy cause. The Blue Cross first opened its Animal Hospital in 1906
and has been dedicated to helping poorly, injured and unwanted pets ever since.
They don't get any help from the Government and rely solely on the public to
donate towards their work. As an animal lover I was keen to help out and that
is why I am now volunteering with them. My two dogs have helped my emotionally,
to overcome some very testing times and as Animals can't speak, they need us to
do the talking for them.
Not only
do Blue Cross animal charity rehome unwanted pets, they also offer a Veterinary
service for those owners who adore their animals but through no fault of their
own, like me, can’t afford essential vet bills to keep their pet in tip
top health. Again, please remember that the Blue Cross does not receive any
funds towards this service so if you do use the animal hospital, any donation,
no matter how small, is always wonderful.
The Blue
Cross also offers a wonderful service for those owners who find it very
difficult to say good bye to their beloved Pet. It can be a very difficult time
saying good bye to your best friend so the Blue Cross is there to give you
support through their Pet Bereavement Support Service (0800 096 6606). It’s
always good to talk to someone who knows how you feel from personal experience.
Their support line is open every day and calls are free and confidential.
I am looking to do some fund raising events and I have a lot of ideas so
keep popping back to see what news I have for you, or simply subscribe for
updates by entering your email address in to the box on the right hand side so
you will be notified of any updates.
So please, if you can help in anyway if you want to volunteer at a shop,
donate money or clothes, books, etc. Ideas for fund raising , offers of raffle prizes. Then get in touch. See you in Abergavenny.
Thank you!
